Reflection
Throughout this year, I have learned many things about who I am and how to live my life. The most important thing that I have learned this year is to make good decisions. I have come to realize that I am not perfect and that I cannot have every decision that I make be a good one; however, I have learned to convey the entire situation in order to make the best decision that I can possibly make. I have tied four of my College Composition I essays under the theme of the importance of making good decisions.
The first essay I wrote pertaining to this theme was the Narrative Essay. In the Narrative Essay, I wrote about a young woman who recently passed away. She struck her head while riding an all-terrain vehicle without a helmet. This essay pertains to making good decisions because this accident could be prevented if she had wore a helmet. Not all accidents can be prevented, but by making good decisions, accidents can occur far less often.
The next essay I wrote that relates to this theme was the Compare and Contrast Essay. In this essay, I wrote about the difference between physical beauty and inner beauty. This relates to my theme because it is important to make decisions about how you look and how you act in order to come across as the person you want to be. For example, if you choose to dress showing a large amount of cleavage for a job interview, you will portray to the interviewer a personality that you would not have liked to show. Therefore, this essay relates to my theme as well.
The third essay I wrote that exemplifies this theme was the Argument Essay 1. This essay was about imprisoning drunk drivers on the first offense. My theme is shown in this essay because the decision of drinking and driving is a major decision that many make. Choosing to drink is one thing, but choosing to drive after drinking is a bad decision that can affect the lives of others. This shows how I have learned about the importance of decision making.
The final essay I wrote that shows this theme was the Argument Essay 2. This essay was in support of having vending machines in schools. The choice shown in this essay was not only to have vending machines, but as a student having the choice between healthy choices and unhealthy choices. This essay exhibits that every choice you make affects you in some way.
In conclusion, this year I have learned that all decisions that I make in life are important and they affect the outcome of who I am as a person and the well-being of my future. I have realized that some decision will not necessarily be the right ones, but it is important to try to make the best decisions regarding my own life.
