Compare & Contrast Essay
What I Changed...
My first change to my Compare and Contrast Essay was the attention getter. After adding an attention getter, I fixed the subject verb agreement in my essay. The last change I made to my Compare and Contrast Essay was to add a lasting statement to my conclusion. Upon changing these things, my essay was much better.

Physical Beauty v. Inner Beauty
Do you possess beauty? Beauty, as defined in the dictionary, means the qualities present in a thing or a person that gives pleasure or satisfaction to the mind. Therefore, beauty can be any affable quality of a person. It can be a physical quality or an inner quality to be considered beauty and a person can possess either and still be beautiful. Physical beauty consists of the qualities that one can see; whereas inner beauty consists of qualities that one cannot see, but one can sense.
Physical beauty is the qualities of a person that others can actually see. In other words, physical beauty is the same as one’s appearance. The qualities of physical beauty are things such as one’s hair, facial features, clothing, body type, and skin type. Most people that refer to someone as beautiful are labeling a person in this way because of their physical beauty. Physical beauty is how pretty or handsome a person is. It is also the perception that people have on others. Although one person may think someone is physically beautiful, others may not agree. This is because beauty is a quality that gives pleasure to one’s mind; therefore, because everyone has his or her own mind, one person may find someone attractive while another person may not find them attractive at all. In addition, physical beauty is the beauty that the majority of people worry about. When looking for a potential girlfriend or boyfriend, very few people date, or marry someone that they do not find physically beautiful. Therefore, physical beauty plays a giant role in today’s society where appearance is far more important than one’s personality or attitude.
In contrast, inner beauty is the qualities of a person that others cannot physically see. Quite different from the obsessions of physical beauty, inner beauty is entirely about one’s personality, attitude, and character. A person who displays inner beauty is decorous and is constantly making other people feel happy. Inner beauty is also defined by a person’s own mind, meaning that a person may believe that a man or a woman possesses inner beauty whereas another person may not agree. When in relationships, it is important that one’s lover possesses inner beauty; however, when looking for a lover, the need for physical beauty overpowers the need for inner beauty. Fiona, from the movie Shrek, is an example of someone who has inner beauty, but not physical beauty because she is an ogre. Therefore, inner beauty is qualities that define one, but are not physically present.
In conclusion, both physical and inner beauty makes a person who they are. While both types make a person beautiful, the idea of being beautiful depends on one’s mind. Physical beauty is more obsessed about, whereas inner beauty is less worried about, but equally important. Physical beauty includes the qualities that one can see and inner beauty consists of the qualities that are present, but cannot be seen. Therefore, everyone possesses beauty in their own way.
